Proof that pet policies are one of the hardest to write!

Before move-in we finally reached agreement on pets in the commonhouse
(none) and everyone accepts that dogs cannot pee on the green. Everyone has
to ask permission to pet our service dog.

There seems to be tacit agreement that no more outdoor cats can move in. I
think we still have one but she seems to have settled down to occasional
wanderings along an upstairs walkway (where no allergic people live). On the
walkway where allergic people live, a low allergy cat was purchased. So far
so good.

The big issues with outdoor cats was (is) that people with the cats don't
think anyone should be able to tell them what their pets can or cannot do.
Those who don¹t think cats should not be outside say it is dangerous to the
cats to be outside and it is against the law. And they pee in the kids
playground. One cat is walked on a leash (the toddlers love this).

Like many other things, we discussed and discussed so long that it seems a
moot point. Some of us want a policy written before we have anymore pets
move in and others don't see the need. No problems, no need for a policy vs.
let's get a policy now while things are calm--don't wait for a crisis.
