We have 15 families. We have one refrigerator, one stove, two ovens, and one sink. Our common house kitchen design isn't ideal. We need two sinks and lots more counter space for prep. But the one frig and freezer, just a standard one, is sufficient. The double ovens are great! We have a residential cooktop: some of us would like a more powerful one but we've been doing fine with the one we have. We did not have to comply with commercial kitchen requirements. However, I don't know that I would mind working in a commercial kitchen. It makes cooking and cleaning up a lot easier. In the cohousings I have visited that have commercial-style outfitting or aspects (Muir Commons in Davis, Calif, Southside Park in Sacramento, Calif, and Rosewind in Washington) I have seen how much easier.
