Are there any completed cohousing communities that continue to have a Membership Committee after intial move-in?
Sunward's Membership committee is very active, 6 years after move-in.
If so, what is the role of the committee?
+ Education and Outreach -Maintain a database and build pool of potential members -produce eNewsletter -manage website -produce 'potential member packets, flyers, other -host visitors & events -manage media relations and provide speakers -proactive strategic outreach & advertising -educate potential members for informed, grounded joining decisions + Assist with Transitions -publicize buy/rent/share openings -help seller follow community practice -connect seekers with openings -orient new members, arrange 'buddies' -produce new member packet + Service to Community -maintain member/alumni database -recognize transitions with fun and ceremony -manage internal email communication systems -maintain photo albums and visual archive -deal with arising issues related to any of above.
When a unit goes up for resale, does the Membership Committee take an activepart in the resale, whether the sale is by owner or via a real estate broker?
