Are there any completed cohousing communities that continue to have a Membership Committee after intial move-in?
Sunward's Membership committee is very active, 6 years after move-in.
If so, what is the role of the committee?
+ Education and Outreach
-Maintain a database and build pool of potential members
-produce eNewsletter
-manage website
-produce 'potential member packets, flyers, other
-host visitors & events
-manage media relations and provide speakers
-proactive strategic outreach & advertising
-educate potential members for informed, grounded joining decisions
+ Assist with Transitions
-publicize buy/rent/share openings
-help seller follow community practice
-connect seekers with openings
-orient new members, arrange 'buddies'
-produce new member packet
+ Service to Community
-maintain member/alumni database
-recognize transitions with fun and ceremony
-manage internal email communication systems
-maintain photo albums and visual archive
-deal with arising issues related to any of above.
When a unit goes up for resale, does the Membership Committee take an activepart in the resale, whether the sale is by owner or via a real estate broker?
