We also let our architect (Chuck Durrett) choose our colors. If you try to consens on something like color you end up with gray or beige! Even though I personally don't love every color (there are about five paint colors), the overall look of the place is gorgeous, and much bolder than any of us would have chosen. (Although interestingly enough, many people are repainting their interior walls in a similar color scheme!) Plus it gives us an easy way to give directions ("Look for the ketchup and mustard buildings on the right...") Eris Weaver Cotati Cohousing, SF Bay Area ...where yesterday, in one eight hour workday, we: made several pieces of gorgeous outdoor furniture out of redwood salvaged from an old barn removed from the property; weeded much of the site; tore down a huge plot of waist-high weeds, dug the soil, laid out a gorgeous intricate pathway, mulched the pathway, composted the beds, AND planted all our vegetables. Ain't cohousing amazing? ...AND we were featured in our local newspaper: http://www.pressdemocrat.com/coursey/03chrisc.html
