COHOUSING PRESENTATION IN AUBURN, California Thursday May 27, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. In an effort to address issues of sprawl and affordability, Auburn City Councilman Mike Holmes has organized a free presentation about cohousing by The CoHousing Company. Cohousing communities cluster private, self-sufficient dwellings around a community center. Potential homeowners participate in the development of the community and help establish priorities from the very beginning. The resulting tightly-knit intergenerational neighborhoods make it easy for families to share childcare, yard work, and other resources. Clustering the homes and designing for energy efficiency reduces both day-today costs and the impact on the environment. The CoHousing Company has designed and developed dozens of such communities including ten in Northern California. The company, founded by cohousing pioneers Kathryn McCamant and Charles Durrett, will start construction later this summer on the Nevada City Cohousing Community and is currently seeking sites for new communities in the Sacramento and Foothill region. Learn more at www.cohousingco.com. Event will take place at the AUBURN COMMUNITY CENTER on 1225 Lincoln Way in Auburn.
