Dear Arthur,
   I've used Telephone Trees in other contexts and the
trick is to try to follow people's natural socializing
patterns as much as possible--have people call the
people they talk to most often anyway and they are
more likely to do it quickly.  Also pay attention to
who lives closest to the more socially isolated folks
and have them called by near neighbors.
   Basically you have the most active, sociable folk
who are least phone phobic called by whoever initiates
the tree first and have them each call 2-5 people
depending on the size of your group, and each of those
folk call another 2-5 and so on.  Put the shy,
isolates and phone phobics and maybe the overwhelmed
or ill at the end of the tree so they don't have to
phone anyone (yes there will be some, even in
co-housing).
