I work with a non-profit housing development agency and we have been approached by a local group who has been meeting for two years to create a cohousing development. I am very excited about the possibility of this development as I had looked into cohousing years ago (and could still find my book!) on my own. They have identified land that has just gone for sale and I am trying to help pull together some preliminary numbers. At this point I am most interested in finding out about funding and financing. Has anyone use HOME funds or grant money or FHLB money related to a cohousing development. I am looking for anything that would help cover planning, pre development, actual project costs, or downpaymet costs for folks who are low income? I'd appreciate any information anyone can point me to. Thanks, Becky.
