Middleground Community presents

GROUP SKILLS WORKSHOPS

with Tree Bressen

May 27-28 in Fair Oaks, CA (near Sacramento)

Friday night: Keys to Effective Meeting Facilitation
Saturday: Consensus--Decisions that Bring People Together

(These are independent workshops, attendance at Friday night is not a pre-requisite for Saturday.)

----------

Keys to Effective Meeting Facilitation

Friday, May 27
7:00-9:00pm

This workshop will cover the essentials of what every meeting facilitator needs to know. After going over the basic principles, we'll practice dealing with typical problems such as: how to intervene gracefully when someone is speaking too long; how to support all parties when a conflict comes up; and other situations as suggested by the participants. Come try out these key skills in a safe and supportive setting.

---

Consensus: Decisions that Bring People Together

Saturday, May 28
9:00am-5:00pm

Bringing together the wisdom of the group for the best possible decisions--it sounds like a nice ideal, but how do groups do it effectively? This workshop will offer a coherent approach to consensus, including the official structures (agreement, standing aside, blocking), the principles underlying them, and what it really takes to make them work.
