Announcing a training for forming cohousing groups: "Finding Land & Getting It Built," Sat-Sun, Dec 3-4, 2005 Berkeley, CA Presenters: Kathryn McCamant, Principal for Development, The CoHousing Company Rick Mockler, New Project Coordinator, Wonderland Hill Development Co. The program includes: The Development Process * The role of the developer and ways to partner * Typical development stages and timelines Land Search & Acquisition * Evaluating sites for feasibility * Making a purchase offer * Partnering with brokers, master developers and others Financing * Typical development costs * Roles of community members and outside investors * What can you afford? Design * Best practices from Denmark to America * The "Common House Game," a learning exercise Working Together * Making decisions and working with consensus * Building a strong group to get the work done Schedule: Saturday: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 pm. Registration: $290 per person until Nov 2, $350 per person beginning Nov 3. Groups receive a $100 per person discount after the first registrant.
