Just for the record, Eno Commons provides child care for all community meetings and workshops. In fact, we are increasing the child care portion of our budget to $1400/year in order to handle the influx of newly-moved-in young ones.
We had a major discussion about this today and settled both on approx $2200 (I forget exactly-- there some kinds of provisions set on part of it) but we also agreed on the point that we need childcare for the older kids 6-12 (mostly 8-10) as well. Some of our key people for workdays need childcare in order to direct others in work.
We hire one sitter and they are supplemented by members depending on how many children there are but have only been only been having adults for the older kids. This has become a problem.
We have gone from 3 to 18 children fairly rapidly and need three adults and one paid provider. With the older kids we need one person so that is 4 plus a paid person for each membership meting and each workday.
