On April 6, Liz Walker, co-founder and director of
EcoVillage at Ithaca (EVI), will be in Princeton, NJ
talking about her experiences initiating, inspiring,
and living in one of the first and most fully-developed
ecovillage communities in the country.

Please join us for Liz's presentation:

EcoVillage at Ithaca:
A Case Study in Sustainable Community

Thursday evening, April 6  *  7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

43 Maple Street in Princeton (directions below)

EcoVillage at Ithaca is an award-winning "living laboratory" on 175 acres
that integrates:

* A village of two cohousing communities with a vibrant, intergenerational
mix of 160 people

* Organic, community-supported agriculture (CSA) farms
* Extensive land preservation
* Green building and site design
* Educational facilities
* Regional sustainability initiatives
* On-site employment opportunities

EVI has received extensive media attention, including
two PBS documentaries, CNN and NPR programs, and
articles in The New York Times, The Wall Street
Journal, Residential Architecture, American
Demographics, Mother Earth News, Green Horizon
Quarterly, and many other publications.

This year EcoVillage at Ithaca has launched a drive to
enhance its outreach and educational programs. Liz
Walker and her colleagues are in a unique position to
act as catalysts for the movement, helping to foster
the development of cohousing communities and the
green transformation of existing neighborhoods, towns
and cities. The April 6 event will help to raise funds
for these new programs. We are asking for a tax-deductible
contribution of $40 to attend (or $20 for students and
seniors). For this contribution you will receive a
signed copy of Liz's book, EcoVillage at Ithaca:
Pioneering a Sustainable Culture, published by
New Society Publishers last summer.

Hors d'oeuvres, dessert items, and refreshments will be served.

"The folks at EcoVillage have learned more than a
little about creating an Earth-friendly community.
Today, an ever-growing number of people are coming to
the conclusion that our society is on a collision
course with madness; they long for a way of life less
alienating and more natural than the prevailing
direction of our culture, but do not know where to
turn. In her new book EcoVillage at Ithaca, Liz Walker
speaks of the struggles as well as the joys of building
such a community. I finished this book with a greatly
renewed sense of hope and trust in humanity's ability
to live with one another and the Earth."
- John Robbins, author of Diet For A New America

"Liz Walker's book is a great contribution to the
sustainability movement. Her personal, engaging account
is an invaluable documenting of the process of creating
one of the most successful alternative communities:
EcoVillage at Ithaca."
- Starhawk, author of The Fifth Sacred Thing and The Earth Path
