Many posts to cohousing-L quote more than needed. Digest subscribers have to sort thru quotes to find new material. (Unless they search for "Message:" or "age:" see http://justcomm.org/jc-faq.htm#Q8.6 ) Messages longer than 8K get held for me to look at (this is mostly to catch quoted digests) So long quotes mean more messages for me to look at... Please delete any unneeded quotes! Details see: http://justcomm.org/jc-faq.htm#Q8 This seems to be a losing battle to get posters to not leave the " ----- Original Message ----- " at the end of every reply. I blame Microsoft for this lame default quoting format. I suspect many people are oblivious to these quotes at the end of their replies... I've pondered what I could do to prod people to prune their quotes. I've considered having an intensive excessive quoting crackdown; put the list in full moderation and look at everything and return messages with excessive quote but this mostly affects people who happen to post during the "crackdown" which might be a week long (full moderation is too much work to do regularly). I've considered an autoreply to all posters reminding them that they should have deleted unneeded quotes. But that would annoy people who don't quote too much. A smart filter that tried to strip excessive quotes would be nice but I dont have that. Fred, listserv manager Sharing my frustration, thanks if you read this far and resolved to do your part.
