This was a bit of a kneejerk response to the idea of an elevator.
Certainly the idea of supporting those who are disabled is a good idea,
and I liked the input from Laura Fitch about modifying the kitchen
without breaking the bank. It seems like a reasonable thing to do for
the kitchen. We also already had in our plans ramp access to the main
floor and a handicapped bathroom (no shower) on the main floor.

It's the ADA shower on the second floor that is a bit silly to us. We
can't afford an elevator, and we don't plan on letting our party or
event guests up there. The idea is that one room would be multi-purpose
residential use and one for guests that don't fit in our smaller
townhomes. Admittedly, this would be a problem for a guest in a
wheelchair, but again, we just can't afford an elevator, and if we don't
have wheelchair access to the upstairs, it seems a bit funny to have a
wheelchair accessible shower.
