We're celebrating our 2nd anniversary (for Sunrise) and 1st anniversary for
Daybreak tonight with an Indian Feast. And . . .

Daybreak Cohousing in Portland, Oregon is thrilled to announce we have a
site!

On October 25, 2006 we closed on the purchase of a 2/3-of-an-acre site in
the Overlook neighborhood of North Portland. Our future home is on North
Killingsworth Ave. within 3 miles of downtown Portland, a few blocks from
the Interstate Max line and on frequent bus service. We anticipate our
buildings will be three stories, including roughly 30 units and a 3,500
square foot common house. This density will allow us to enjoy a reasonable
amount of green space for our very urban setting. We currently anticipate a
March 2008 construction start!

We've been Busy!

In conjunction with our property purchase, we've been busy building
community now and for our future. We temporarily held membership to our
current seven households to try to accomplish a lot of tasks. And
accomplish them we have! We are immensely grateful to the commitment of
this community of eleven beautiful adults (plus a most gorgeous baby) for
getting us where we are now!

We've been working together on our vision for the last several months,
including a day-long workshop at Cascadia Commons and an upcoming workshop
in January. We've put together much of our Group Process, getting plenty of
practice at meetings and workshops, and are planning for consensus and
facilitation training in 2007. We spent the fall in pre-design with
programming workshops for Site Planning in August, the Common House in
November, and Private Units in December. We'll be completing the work from
our December Sustainability Charrette in early January. Even though we
temporarily held membership, we've been meeting and talking socially with
many interested folks at monthly socials and are now ready to bring your
enthusiasm into what we believe is already an exhilarating community!
