On 1/8 Jeanne Goodman-JP Cohousing (goodmanjjpcohousing.org) wrote w/ subj: Effect on local housing prices : > Does anyone know if there are any statistics on how cohousing affects > local housing prices? After reading this article: > http://www.sacbee.com/101/story/104565.html it made me aware that this > is a study that desperately needs to happen. Same day Sheryl Rapée-Adams (sherylsherylhelpsanimals.com )wrote w/ subj: Two interesting cohousing articles in the media and quoted the leadin to the same article (the url she gave was garbled). The article also says: Residents around the 3.5-acre lot just south of the intersection of Greenback Lane and Illinois Avenue are fuming about what this dense development might do to their home prices and the rural feel they've come to expect in Orangevale. They've gathered about 70 signatures on a petition in opposition to the project. At a Jan. 2 meeting of the Orangevale Community Planning Advisory Council, a six-person council that reviews proposed developments and makes nonbinding recommendations to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, opponents turned out in numbers. The board voted 4-2 to recommend that supervisors deny the project a crucial rezone. Anyone familiar with Orangevale care to describe it better? To read the whole article requires one to register which they describe as quick. They require more info than I was willing to give but decided to fill it in to read this article. (They require lots of info but do not require it to be true. They don't even seem to confirm the email address.
