We feel wireless is the way to go since there are no problems or costs for running the wires and it is an easy hookup to do and it would be available all over the property. It would be secure so nonmembers can't access it.
Wireless is comparatively slow. It will work well for accessing the internet, but may not be fast enough for people to share resources within the community. Being able to easily share file servers, backup systems, printers, even practical VOIP would be a good thing. I'm still running 100Mb ethernet at my house, but I have a friend who runs gigabit ethernet so he can easily stream audio and video through his house.
So, if it is practical, I recommend running multiple strands of cat 6 to each house. Or at least put in cable runs.
