My name is Marysia and I've got exciting news that I was hoping you could pass on, about a senior cohousing group that will be forming in San Juan Bautista. As you know, it is quite the grass roots organizing effort getting future residents together. If you could please forward this email and flyer (attached) to your friends, family, and community, we would greatly appreciate your help! Now here¹s the story... A fellow by the name of Tod has a beautiful site in downtown San Juan Bautista! Tod, his parents, and his grandparents were all residents of this historic town nestled in the rolling hills outside of Santa Cruz. Although his grandparents had lived in town all of their life, they were unable to age there, since there really were no accommodations for seniors. Tod started researching healthy senior housing alternatives, and he came across senior cohousing. Determined to build a senior cohousing community so that his parents could stay in town and age in place successfully, he came to Chuck Durrett with a great site. Chuck Durrett will now be coming to San Juan Bautista to give a presentation on senior cohousing. This is all part of the early group formation process. As you know, the organization takes place on a grass roots level, so your help in getting the word out would be greatly appreciated! Please forward and/or post this flyer that I have attached, and please do come to our event! It will be lots of fun; Chuck will talk about senior cohousing, his experience (he¹s designed over 30 cohousing communities, and he¹s visited over 300) and he¹ll show a great slideshow. We¹ll have drinks and appetizers, and the site will be right there for you to check out! The presentation will be shown on May 19th, at 5:00 pm, at the Orient Express restaurant, 35 Washington St, San Juan Bautista. If you would like more information, feel free to contact me at: (530) 265-9980, or at: marysia.miernowska [at] cohousingco.com Another great aspect of this project is that it will be part of an Artisan Plaza, right in downtown San Juan Bautista. The cohousing community will be on a lovely plaza with a fountain, by a café, an art gallery, a wine tasting barn, and a bed & breakfast. The plaza will be behind some live/work lofts for artists, which will face the street while opening up to the plaza in the back, providing possibilities to interact with the public and/or to display work. Perhaps you could pass this info onto some artists friends as well. Tod hopes that this project will allow a group of seniors to age in place successfully and sustainably, in the cultural town of San Juan Bautista, with a high quality of life. His ideas for the Artisan Plaza came from his fellow citizens, who want San Juan to retain its cultural and historic character. We greatly appreciate you helping us spread the word, and we hope to see you on May 19th!
