Mayfair Village in Denver is retrofitting solid brick homes built in
the 40's. We consider this the most environmentally sound way to go.
We're also preserving a block in a world of scrape offs. Joyce

Since there are so many already-built houses on the market, it makes sense to me on the one hand that it would be better to buy oneof them, rather than using up materials to have a new one constructed. Ontheother hand, most existing houses are not as well insulated or set up forsolar, etc. Comments, anyone? *** Many older city row houses are very well insulated. They have only twowalls exposed. Houses built 100 or so years ago were built of substantialmaterials and keep out heat and cold quite well. Old houses do need to have windows replaced, oil burners, etc. Rose _________________________________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list -- Unsubscribe, archives and other info at: http://www.cohousing.org/cohousing-L/
