Not sure about housing, but in terms of other services - for example,
health care, education, nutrition - discrimination based on religious
belief is now blessed by the federal government. Religious organizations
can hire based on the consistency of an individual's belief system with
that of the faith-based organization offering services. It is stated at -
the individual's ability to carry forward the mission of the
organization. While, for example, the Bible or Koran cannot be taught in
a program, hiring can be based on an individual's belief in these texts.
In the '60s, faith-based organizations were required to remove any sign
of religious affiliation, such as a cross. Now, such groups are allowed
to display these signs and every effort is being made by the federal
government to ensure that action based on the beliefs of religious groups
is allowed. This might be off-topic, but I think people need a wake-up
call.
