At Sharingwood we created the ARF, an assessment relief fund. People donate
to this usually when they pay their monthly assessment and the fund builds,
anyone who needs this money simply asks the treasurer, who then transfers
whatever amount from the ARF to pay off their assessment debt. Simple.  If
the account ever goes to empty, which is has not yet, we would probably do
some kind of fundraiser for it.

Over the years we have also asked for donations to cover certain things, and
usually we get enough to meet the  needs. For example, for awhile, when we
were stocking the commonhouse and wanted some high quality cooking tools, we
put out a very specific list at Christmas. People bought things and wrapped
it up under the commonhouse Christmas tree.
