Regarding the Homemade table topic. We at Coho Ecovillage, Corvallis hope to make tables for our dining hall. We have maple wood, from clearing the land for construction, that we have had milled and dried. We intend to plane and join and cut the wood to make "drift boat" shaped tables. (Bellingham was talking about making such shaped tables at one point.) Each table will have two pedestal supports, which we salvaged for free at a hotel going out of business sale. The pedestal supports have the advantage that folks in wheel chairs can sit anywhere around them, not just a specific spaces away from the table legs.
