I agree. The deceptively simple design of great rooms is a subtle and all important skill.
One factor, however, may be that it is the focus of the community and thus its greatest stress point. Can we live with this many kids? With parents not taking control of them? With food left out? With the movie people leaving crumbs and ants filling up the place the next day? With a budget of another $5,000 for acoustics? With another amateur paint job? With another puzzle taking up so much room? Will the kids ever stop jumping on the furniture?
