Cohousing-L Mailing List: Blue Ridge Cohousing in Virginia seeking subcontractors

Hi Cohousers,

Blue Ridge Cohousing (BRC) is about to send out bids to subcontractors.  We're 
located in Crozet, Virginia, just outside of Charlottesville.  We plan to start
construction starting the end of this summer.  I'm sending to the
national listserv since there are some aspects of the community that
are applicable nationally - for example we will have standard hot water
solar for all 26 homes and optional photovoltaic.  There are no
Virginia-based solar providers that I no of, so I'd appreciate national
responses.  Also, I'm hoping that perhaps some regional readers in the
many Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina neighborhoods might have
some ideas on local contractors.

The general contractor is nonprofit Community Housing Partners
Corporation (CHPC).  But the following are the categories of
subcontractors we will be seeking quotes from:

- Solar
- Siding and Roofing
- Framing
- Mechanical/HVAC
- Site Work and Foundations
- Drywall
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Landscaping
- Insulation

Names of interested companies in these categories along with contact 
information would be greatly appreciated.  Please send them directly to
me.  The more that are included, the better potential that we'll get
good prices.  So we'd greatly appreciate even a single quick
recommendation if you have one.
