Re: Conversation on the Economic Crisis: How To Do It?

What great responses and suggestions we're getting.

Here's where I think we are now and the questions that remain (in bold):

*1. What do you think? An upcoming Saturday afternoon?*
It seems folks would like the (first) conversation as soon as possible. So I would think the availability of our panelists will determine the date. I assume a Saturday is better than a Sunday. maybe 1 pm EDT; 4 pm PDT to avoid soccer matches.

So the question we would ask the panelists is can they make October 18 or October 25?

*2. Should we have more than one conversation?

*It seemed like people often spoke of the conversations in the plural. Should we have more than one? Two? If so, how do we parse the subject?
*
*Perhaps the first conversation is about the economic crisis in general and we could ask for additional specific questions in our promotion beforehand. And Rob can determine/discuss those questions beforehand with the panelists to choose the most illluminating ones. Then during or after that event, it would be determined whether a followup conversation is wanted and what its subject would be.

We can use freeconferencecall.com's event service. The questions will be asked before the conversation but we'll have some mechanism for participants to send questions during it.

*3. How can we record the conversation? *
Anyone know how to easily record a phone call so that we could offer the digital audio as a download on www.cohousing.org. Freeconferencecall.com doesn't yet offer that option in the event service we'll be using.
*
4. Should Coho/US charge a small amount to cover our costs?
*
Should Coho/US charge anything? $5 for all the planning that will go into it? Or should this be free, given the tenor of the times?

Thanks for your thoughts,

donna
