Hi-The past week, around the US, HUD has been launching a Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) to help states and local governments purchase and rehab or redevelop residential properties that have already been abandoned or foreclosed. The program won't help prevent foreclosure, but in the hardest hit markets, communities are making plans that may be of interest to forming groups that don't have a site yet and know of a subdivision or a condo building that has been foreclosed. Maybe even most of a city block in some areas.
For more info, see the HUD website at www.hud.gov.And, of course, this is me speaking in my personal, not my professional capacity.
