We just started a trial run of an electronic (web-based) calendar, and it was agreed that for the duration of the trial the paper calendar in the Common House would be removed. We felt there needed to be only one official calendar, and everyone went along with that.
The calendar (now the e-calendar) reserves spaces in the CH except for the guest rooms, which are reserved in a different (paper-based) book. We're just coming to the end of our first year of having finished guest rooms so I won't describe its reservations policy, as it hasn't yet passed the test of time.
