Thanks Dave, I appreciate your words and wish I had explicitly offered up both celebrating and not-celebrating. When you wrote: "I presume Craig was posting personally and not as a Cohousing/USA official" you were quite right, but its probably more complicated than that for folks who are trying to wear multiple hats - I know its challenging for me. This issue has been most discussed here in the realm of "Members who provide paid services to the group." To be clear, Coho/US has NO political agenda, other than advocacy for cohousing... it all its variety, whether they are diverse in any particular characteristic or not. I do my best to present Coho/US in ways that respect this. It is inevitable, however, that I will share about my personal life in cohousing - and Songaia Cohousing is less diverse than cohousing, though it shares characteristics with many. I'm afraid that its all too easy to communicate something on a personal level that is read by others as somehow being tied to my Coho/US title. I don't know how to deal with this effectively - and would welcome advice. Particularly chlallenging is that its often ambiguous to me when I share - for example, what hat am I wearing as I write this? I suspect I cannot change hats as easily or as skillfully as some. Starting with this not, I will try editing my sig line when I am clear that I not speaking for Coho/US. Thanks for your patience -- Craig Ragland Coho/US executive director - who's also addressing personal cohouser issues in this posting. http://www.cohousing.org craig [at] cohousing.org Please try email first, include your phone number (w/time zone) - or give me a call: 425-487-3550 (Pacific)... communicate!
