Sounds like a great project. The folks at N Street Cohousing in Davis,
CA, did just this kind of thing, adding one house at a time and taking
down fences as they went. You can find their contact info on the IC
directory at www.ic.org, if no one from there is on this list and
responds to your e-mail.
Best wishes, River, who can't get the italics to go away and will stop trying now. Mark Gill wrote:
Greetings, Several of us have created an urban EcoVillage (Or so we call it) in Milwaukee that incorporates many Cohousing concepts and what we believe are EcoVillage principles. These move our small Intentional Community (2 duplexes) towards sustainability wherever possible. An article was written about us (The link: http://bayviewcompass.com/ecovillage-dwellers/) and I thought some of you might be interested in our hybrid IC. We share some space, meals, a garden, a car (some of us that is) and much more. We have 10 in our IC and anticipate expansion soon as our last tenant is vacating April 1st. We also have the opportunity to purchase a duplex adjacent to our properties to grow our community. We're having some issues figuring out how exactly to do that. Are there other conmmunities that started with a couple of houses and then grew into a Cohousing project/EcoVillage? We'd love to hear their stories. We would also like to find any "like communities (hopefully urban) to learn from. And if anyone is interested in contacting us we're on the FIC list as the Bay View EcoVillage.
