We ended up retrofitting and not building from scratch, but when we still 
thought a particular property was feasible I did some talking with our local 
Habitat chapter.  As I recall, they said they would match the exterior of the 
buildings so that the units would fit it, but would use their own simpler 
interior designs. They told us there would be no problem with our doing our own 
screening/recruitment, as long as the households fit their criteria as well.  
We had talked about offsetting the common house assessment by having their crew 
chiefs work with us or people we hired in our stead to do some of the work on 
the common house, which doesn't really apply in your situation since your 
common house is built.
