Fred,It's for the reason above that doctors recommend frequently vacuuming, dusting and actual cleaning of carpets. It's easier to keep down the amount of dander with hard floors. Also change your bedding frequently -- something people sometimes forget this one. It's to the point now that people get pets who are known to have less dander or don't shed as much as others. Daily brushing of the pet (in an area not open to the entire house) also is effective.
