We don't do anything except talk but one of our residents who works in energy just attended first responder training. She said one thing that seemed to me to be a good target to shoot for — prepare for 72 hours with no energy, water, or food from outside your home, or in our case, our cohousing community. I thought 72 hours was a good tangible target that was understandable and achievable. And in most cases realistic. Usually it is less than 72 hours. If it were to be weeks and weeks, it becomes so difficult to comprehend and plan and sustain preparedness that it doesn't happen. At that level it becomes a professional, civic responsibility.
