Hi Cohousing Friends,
Many of you know about /A Home in Community/, the small nonprofit started at CoHo Ecovillage in Corvallis, Oregon in 2007 with the goal of promoting inclusive communities.

   * Our first project is /A Home at CoHo/, an ADA-accessible
condominium unit at CoHo, which will always be available as an
affordable rental for someone who is low-income, physically
disabled, and desiring to enjoy the connection with others which
is the hallmark of cohousing. Mike Volpe, who has had multiple
sclerosis for over 30 years, is our first renter.
   * We are available to partner with other cohousing communities who
are interested in doing something similar.
   * We also educate intentional communities about the benefits to
themselves and others of building their communities so that they
are fully accessible and visitable. In this way:
o People with physical disabilities have the opportunity to
           live in community.
o All community members are able to age in place, even as
their physical abilities change with time.
o All homes are visitable by everyone, broadening our
           connections and friendships.

We are pleased to announce that the presentation given by AHIC board members at the Seattle cohousing conference is now available, both at You Tube and directly on our site, www.AhomeinCommunity.org <http://www.ahomeincommunity.org/>

Although AHIC continues to work on outreach and education, our major fundraising focus continues to be raising enough money to pay off all loans on AHIC's unit in Corvallis. Our goal is to raise enough each year to meet expenses, plus pay an additional minimum of $10,000 yearly towards the principal on AHIC's loans.Current debt on the unit is $90,200.

So many organizations have a large pool of funders. We do not. We are therefore asking each of you to look into your hearts and your finances to see if you are comfortable making a tax-deductible donation during this 2010 Annual Appeal. Checks can be made payable to /A Home In Community/ and mailed to the address below. Donations or monthly pledges may also be made on-line at www.AHomeInCommunity.org <http://www.ahomeincommunity.org/>.

Please remember that every dollar you give goes directly to the project. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a volunteer working board, operating out of our homes, so there are no expenses for staff, office or telephone. The only paid person is an accountant, hired by AHIC as a contractor to guarantee fiscal responsibility.

With your help, we will be able to pay off our loans and ensure that this home is permanently available as an affordable rental to Mike and those who follow him.

With heartfelt thanks for your support,

Debby Vajda
