Hi Michael,

We've tried various approaches.  Initial having various committees propose
budgets and then a coordinating committee made up of representatives of each
group recommending a comprehensive budget to the community.  For the last
few years, we have a budget party where each committee lists projects and
line items and then community members come to a party where the lists are
displayed each household gets a handful of play money (determined by the
amount of discretionary funds we have, ie after paying core expenses) and
spends it.

What do you all do?
