3-story attached communities are hard to come by but i think we're going to 
start seeing more of them.

Also look at these multi-story examples:
Trillium Hollow in Portland, OR

Cambridge Cohousing in Cambridge, MA

Capitol Hill Urban Cohousing in Seattle is unbuilt, but when completed in 2013 
will be 4 stories (9 units) on 4500sf lot.

Kailash in Portland is also a multistory (but i think just 2-story, it's a 
retrofit of existing apt building, very interesting rental community with 
strong permaculture focus)

And similarly Columbia Ecovillage is 2-story apts (retofit but condos, 
permaculture focus)
