For many people a significant benchmark in the path from first knowledge of cohousing to move-in has
to be the point at which they pay a substantial lump sum of money to the nascent organization with
little or no expectation that they can get the money back, in the short term, if they want or need
it.
To me, making that payment represents commitment (and justifies a party). Michael BarrettShadowlake Village in Blacksburg Virginia, where we are wondering if winter is over or or it hasn't yet arrived. The wiser money is on "not yet arrived".

Hello, Our developing cohousing group is at a stage wherein a core group of 5 families has been working together for 1.5 years and we are ready to bring in new neighbors. I was wondering what kind (if any) of welcoming ceremonies other cohousing groups may use to mark a prospective member's decision to actually join the community? At that point in the process, our new people will have had a "buddy" family assigned and have attended a number of meetings, both social and business. But how do any of you mark the change in status from "interested" to "committed"? spencer Capitol Hill Urban Cohousing Seattle _________________________________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list -- Unsubscribe, archives and other info at: http://www.cohousing.org/cohousing-L/
