Thanks to all who contributed to the thread I started on private and community dinners in cohousing communities. Each contributor added a unique perspective. I need to correct a misstatement. Jamaica Plain Cohousing's once-a-week private supper club has always shared the Common House kitchen (and Great Room). They never had exclusive use. I stand corrected. To summarize my thoughts and feelings on the topic: * I enjoyed the weekly community bike rides and not-infrequent community dinners of American Youth Hostels/Hosteling International/Center City Touring Club in Philadelphia 1980-1985. * I enjoy the twice-a-month community dances and not-infrequent community dinners of the Boston-area GLBTQ-and-friends contradance in Jamaica Plain 1989-present. * When I became an equity member of JP Cohousing in 2001, 4 years before we opened, I was especially looking forward to community dinners. * I deeply regret that regular, stable community dinners never took root in my community--for whatever reason--and I envy cohousing communities that do have them. Respectfully, Howard Katz Jamaica Plain Cohousing
