Beware of sliding walls — we hired acoustical people (moonlighting musicians) 
who when around pounding on walls and pointed out that the wall behind our 
commercial dishwasher was hollow and thus acting like an acoustical instrument, 
amplifying sound all by itself.

A sliding wall might also be hollow in order to make it lighter weight.
