One would hope that cohousing would lead the way in reducing the cost of
"housing" whilst simultaneously increasing the quality of alternative ways
of living.
The cultural context in which so many cohousing "projects" are forced to function are based on a given culture's prejudices, both at the governmental level and in the psyches of the people themselves. Neither are all that receptive to change, to alternatives that challenge their prejudices. Like most dynamic systems, adaptation comes from the fringes. A look at the history of cohousing reveals a lot.
