At yesterday's long-awaited Cohousing New England MeetUp brunch in Cambridge (MA), we had a number of great discussions, but many couldn't make it or had to run off for community open houses. One longtime area cohousing dreamer, Paul Sullivan, was particularly chomping at the bit to build community, either with existing neighbors where he lives (what we sometimes call "organic" or "retrofit" cohousing, in alignment with Transition Town ideas about neighborhood organizing) or creating something new, so we're throwing together another gathering tonight not far from his home, near North Quincy T, at Panera Bread on Hancock Street, from 7-9 PM or so. Come on down and join the conversation. Use this as an opportunity to meet other cohousing seekers and group-house builders in the area, learn about established communities (we'll share some highlight's of Saturday's sold-out regional summit and the national movement), talk about what it takes to build community wherever you live, and how to use this MeetUp group to find each other and build community. Your Cohousing Coaches, Betsy and Raines (visiting from Berkeley (CA) cohousing), will be there, but ultimately your next steps and what you get from this, are up to you. Raines You can RSVP via the New England cohousing MeetUp group: http://www.meetup.com/CohousingNewEngland/events/142974782/
