My community used to have a resident notary, but she moved away a number of years ago. In Massachusetts it's pretty easy to become a notary, so I decided it would be a great service to the community to become a notary and be available for anyone who needs it. Much to my surprise there's more need than I had anticipated at the rate of about one a month. Other cohousing communities might think of doing that. Carol Agate Cornerstone in Cambridge, MA
