applicable to cohousing hopefuls in other areas.
The workshop will cover aspects of cohousing development, including:

*Community Development*-- Organizing the community, efficiently working
together, making effective decisions, building and growing the community,
and defining the roles of the member, the group and the professionals.

*Understanding Management*-- Designing a community, working through the
government approval process, hiring and managing construction
professionals, incorporating maximum sustainability principles.

*Financial Control*-- Financing realities (costs), financing options,
ownership structures, keeping your project on track and on budget.
Early registration (until April 26) is $350/person, $450/couple from the
same household. After April 26, registration is $400/person, $500/couple.
The workshop is capped at 30 people, so register early to ensure you have a

website: www.harrisonburgcohousing.org , as is information about Katie and
Chuck's Friday, May 16th evening presentation ($10 or by donation) and our
other cohousing info presentations in April.

AND, if you are considering a move to join a cohousing community, keep us
in mind! Harrisonburg is a small city with a thriving community in the
Shenandoah valley of Virginia. The city population approaches 50,000, and
the city is surrounded by farms giving way to forests. We have two
universities and a community college, a strong farmers market, a children's
museum, grocery co-op, well-stocked library system, and many varied
restaurants (including Indian, Carribean, Ethiopian, German, Thai,
Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Greek, and Turkish). Harrisonburg has
a diverse population, with over 40 languages natively spoken by public
school students, and a historic Mennonite community that keeps the area
grounded in peace and simplicity. We love it here, and think you might
too! For more information about Harrisonburg, check out the Harrisonburg
tourism site: www.visitharrisonburgva.com.
