Another thing we used to do is bring a tray. Some people would bring a dish to 
share but not always and not everyone.  This was harder for families because it 
would mean juggling several trays. Sometimes they brought a one dish meal and 
served it downstairs, offering any left over to others.

This worked especially well when eating outdoors in the piazza.
