Hello David —

I know some coho communities do have B&Bs. I’m sure someone from one of them
will write to you.

Our by-laws at Takoma Village here in DC prohibit running businesses out of
the home except for something along the lines of a consulting business where
clients may come occasionally. Do your by-laws provide for this?

Also … short term rentals are generally covered by the municipality in which
you live. In DC, if you want to rent a room out via Air B&B for instance you
must be licensed. Here this falls under Single Room Occupancy regulations
(short term rental a.k.a. “boarding house”) which is generally highly
regulated.

You might find out if it’s legal in your municipality to rent rooms on a short
term basis.
