2014 2:00 am LIBERTYTOWN — Ten visitors from Kazakhstan ended a two-hour visit 
Wednesday to Liberty Village with warm feelings for the cohousing community 
that prides itself on sustainable practices.The professional exchange was 
organized by the World Trade Center Institute Baltimore and the U.S. Agency for 
International Development's Community Connections Program. The program exposes 
the visitors to best practices in residential energy efficiency, effective 
public-private partnerships and challenges of democratic institutions. It also 
forges connections between Maryland and Kazakhstan.Liberty Village is a 
community of private houses developed by its residents to provide neighborly 
living for all ages. Homes are built for energy efficiency, and the community 
emphasizes cooperation and eco-friendly practices.The village's communal bent
