For my imminent challenge is to engender support for the cohousing model or specifically our cohousing community from a seller who we have never met. We are seeking a meeting through real estate agents. asked Emily Parker. I would share an observation that I/we, Iowa City Cohousing, have found valuable: Consider your audience's perspective. For instance, while all the benefits of cohousing may be very persuasive to us Members, bankers don't really primarily care about those values important to us. They just care about the money; do we have a plan that is solid financially. I don't know Emily's particular circumstance with her seller, but generally what they are interested in is your ability to buy the property. They do not care about the cohousing model. You are just a buyer to them. Del Holland (DelHolland [at] aol.com) Manager-Board of Managers ICCH,LLC -Iowa City Cohousing - developer of Prairie Hill Cohousing iowacitycohousing.org
