I think that there are lots of ways to have affordable cohousing.  1) Assemble 
it: "tiny house" villages with a big house, mobile home village with a big 
house, and so forth;  2) Rent in existing co housing. 3) Learn about co housing 
that has non-profits owning units (yes there are some);  4) Accept that we get 
much more space (and a few more meetings) when we live in co housing.
