Thanks so much for this. As a developing seniors cohousing project in Ottawa, we are looking at the "supportive services" needed by our members. It is such an important part of seniors cohousing. I am wondering what term or word groups use to describe these activities. We have a committee looking at this and it covers everything from exercise classes and transportation to appointments as well as services by professionals. Do you have a committee that coordinates and makes arrangements? Would love to hear from you, Lynne Lynne Markell, Lmarkell [at] rogers.com (613) 842-5222 > On Oct 21, 2016, at 6:42 AM, Alice Alexander <alicecohous [at] gmail.com> > wrote: > > > Many communities are addressing this issue! > Here's a helpful resource on the Coho/US website from Sharon Villines from > June 2015: Neighborly Support vs Health Care > <http://www.cohousing.org/node/3156> > Alice Alexander, Coho/US Executive Director > > > On Fri, Oct 21, 2016 at 12:55 AM, Richard L Kohlhaas <rlkohl [at] > earthlink.net> > wrote: > >> >> At Casa Verde, we have organized a committee to investigate coordinating >> assistance, such as meals, driving, shopping, help with >> housework, personal care, etc, for members who are (temporarily) disabled >> due to injury, illness, etc. . >> >> We have recognized potential problems, e.g. how long is "temporary", what >> about mental illness, legal liability. >> >> Have any other communities dealt with this type of situation? >> >> >> >> ------------------------------------ >> Dick Kohlhaas <rlkohl [at] earthlink.net> >> (719)633-8170 >> Board Member, Cohousing Association of the US >> Resident of Colorado Springs Cohousing Community at Casa Verde Commons >> Completed March 2003. 34 units on 4 acres www.casaverde.us >> >> >> _________________________________________________________________ >> Cohousing-L mailing list -- Unsubscribe, archives and other info at: >> http://www.cohousing.org/cohousing-L/ > > > -- > Alice Alexander > Executive Director > http://www.cohousing.org > [image: The Cohousing Association] > _________________________________________________________________ > Cohousing-L mailing list -- Unsubscribe, archives and other info at: > http://www.cohousing.org/cohousing-L/ > >
