About kids and the Common House~ In our community, although concerns rise up occasionally about how the kids’ play rooms were left in our common house, or about inordinate noise at certain times, we do not have any rules or restrictions about our children being in there. It is left to the parents’ discretion. If such a proposal were raised, I would be a voice of opposition. The Common House is part of their community home too. I would much rather work with the children to develop increasing responsibility and consideration, and allow them to make mistakes, and support their parents in becoming more aware of needed oversight and follow-through, than prevent their getting the chance with forbidden entry. The children in our community are 2 to 17, and the ones who currently use the CH the most are the group of 5- to 10-year-olds. In past years some teens used it more, though not with our current array of kids, but they know it’s there if they want it. Jude Trillium Hollow, Portland OR
