Three of my community members (including myself) have served on various city
commissions, and I just ran (unsuccessfully) for city council. I know there
are folks in other communities who have also served in public office or run
other types of political campaigns.

When we're in the development process we often see these entities as our
opponents or roadblocks…sitting on the other side of the dais has, for me at
least, produced quite a shift in my point of view! I frequently find myself
using my new insider knowledge to advise others on how best to approach
their interactions with the city.

I’m putting together a session on Cohousers in Politics for the May
conference, and looking for collaborators & advisors! If you’ve held or run
for public office or have some other deep political experience – even if
you’re not planning to attend the conference – please contact me!
