We used Epoch in New Hampshire. I would not recommend them. About a mile away from us, Cambridge Cohousing was built using modular construction back in the 90's. I'm surprised no one from there has spoken up, but maybe that experience is too old to be useful. I've cc'd a few people who live there. -- Mabel :-) mabel [at] twomeeps.com<mailto:mabel [at] twomeeps.com> Mabel Liang Software Engineer turned Gardener Cornerstone Village Cohousing Cambridge, MA On 2020-10-07 14:43, Ruth Hirsch wrote: Hi, David, We did build our initial twelve homes with Westchester Modular, a high end modular company. We didn’t save a ton of money exactly, we did have great efficiency of time and predictability of homes being delivered: a great factor. And knowing that modular tends to be efficient, less wasteful. Before moving, in my previous area I saw a modular home coming in and it was for a contractor. We spoke and while he did stick building for a living, he had inspected modulars and saw it was the best way to go for his own home. Has anyone built a cohousing community using modular construction, to make it more affordable? We?re planning to have a cohousing community at Mirador Astronomy Village, and modular seems worth considering given a rural--even remote--location and the additional expense and challenges that implies.
